On Wednesday, April 5, John’s wife, Nora Forster, passed away from Alzheimer’s disease. John stood beside her for her last years as a caregiver. Public Image Ltd. (PiL) have decided to go ahead with plans to announce their 11th studio album and first album in eight years, End of World. The tour will be dedicated to the memory of Nora.

Public Image Ltd (PiL), the legendary British band led by former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten) is coming to Ghent for the first time. They have their place in history thanks to big hits like “Rise” and “This is not a love song,” the classic album Metal Box and their innovative blend of genres like dub, dance, folk and rock.

After countless band changes (including Jah Wobble and Clash guitarist Keith Levene) and an interval of almost 15 years, PiL presents their new album End of World (August 2023), preceded by singles ‘Hawaii’ and ‘Penge’.

About single ‘Hawaii’:

Earlier this year, PiL released Hawaii, the most personal piece of songwriting and accompanying artwork John Lydon has ever shared. The song is a love letter to John’s wife Nora. It is a pensive, personal but universal love song that has resonated with many since its release in January. John reflects on their shared life and in particular on their happiest moments together in Hawaii.

John himself adds this message about it: “Nora loved the album, she wouldn’t have wanted us to postpone it or change any of our plans.” Earlier he said of Hawaii, “It is dedicated to everyone going through tough times on the journey of life, with the person they care for the most.” (source democrazy)
