Front 242 is considered one of Belgium’s leading bands. The group formed in the 1980s and is considered the founders of the Electronic Body Music (EBM) genre. Front by Front is an album by Front 242, released in 1988, and labeled as “easily one of the best industrial albums ever made.” The album was reissued by Sony Music Entertainment in 1992. The track “Headhunter” became an industrial dance floor hit, accompanied by a music video directed by Anton Corbijn. The track “Rhythm of Time” from hat 1991 album Tyranny (For You) was featured in the movie “Single White Female,” with Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
In 2022, Front 242 celebrated their 40th anniversary in a big way with two sold-out concerts at the Brussels AB. There was also less news; frontman Jean-Luc de Meyere was hospitalized in early 2022. On September 8, 2023, Front 242 will come to Heerlen for an exclusive Dutch club show.
