The Cure Close Rock Werchter 2026 in Style
Rock Werchter 2026 saves its most iconic moment for last. The legendary British band The Cure will close the festival on Sunday evening, delivering what promises to be one of the most emotional and defining sets of the entire summer festival season. It’s a fitting finale for one of the greatest bands rock has ever produced.
The Cure’s history with Werchter stretches back over four decades. Their first festival appearance on Belgian soil dates back to 1981, and the bond between the band and the Werchter crowd has only deepened with time. Robert Smith and his bandmates have always treated the stage as a place of catharsis — for themselves and for the thousands who sing every word back at them. That connection doesn’t age.
What makes The Cure so enduringly relevant is their refusal to be boxed in. Post-punk architects, gothic icons, alternative pioneers — none of those labels fully capture what The Cure do to a crowd. From the brooding depth of Disintegration to the euphoric rush of Friday I’m in Love, their setlists carry an emotional weight that few artists can match. The Full Sunday Line-up
The Cure aren’t alone on Sunday 5 July. Moby, David Byrne, Paul Kalkbrenner, Rise Against, Mogwai, SONS, Kaat Van Stralen, HAEVN, Dressed Like Boys, and Tsar B will also be performing at the festival park on the final day. And rounding out the afternoon before The Cure close the Main Stage, A Perfect Circle will take to the stage on Sunday 5 July.
The Other Days at Rock Werchter 2026
If Sunday is the emotional climax, the rest of the weekend more than holds its own.
On Thursday 2 July, Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton, Yong Yello, Monza, Tom Smith, The War on Drugs, The Prodigy, and Mumford & Sons will perform at the festival park.
The xx will close the Main Stage on Friday 3 July with their minimalist mix of indie rock, electronica and dream pop. Charlotte de Witte, Viagra Boys, Kae Tempest, Lewis Capaldi, Franz Ferdinand, Agnes Obel, and Teddy Swims will also perform on the second day.
On Saturday, the Main Stage will be taken by American duo Twenty One Pilots and virtual band Gorillaz. Halsey and the Pixies are also confirmed for Saturday 4 July.
