 Der Klinke

In the fifteen years since their formation, DER KLINKE has become a fixture on the darkwave scene. Most people will know them from their überclassic “The Doll,” but fans know that they have numerous classics to their name. Think of Las Fabricas, Curtains, Someone Who Smiles, Our Dance in Darkness, Facts of Life, Who To Deny, Still Alone, and we could go on and on. Founded in Ostend in 2009 by Chesko, who was also the keyboardist for The Bollock Brothers for a long time, and fantastic musicians such as Sam Claeys from Red Zebra, they know how to turn every performance into a party, especially for fans of Sisters of Mercy, Front 242, Joy Division, Editors, and Fad Gadget, because their unique sound is a mix of all of these. In 2023, they released their highly acclaimed sixth album, “Facing Fate,” which was well received by Radio Willy and also made them known to Radio 1.

Neon Electronics

For Dirk Da Davo, writing beautiful songs was never a priority. On the contrary, when it did happen, it was often seen as an ironic twist of fate. The medium is the message for the man who, together with TB Frank, was at the helm of THE NEON JUDGEMENT for years, one of the most influential bands in the electronic post-punk scene. When Da Davo founded NEON ELECTRONICS in 1999, it may have been considered a side project, but today it has his full attention and focus. The latest album, “APOLLO,” was recorded together with Glenn Keteleer aka RADICAL G—Da Davo’s partner in crime for many years—and bassist Pieter-Jan Theunis.

Heaven 17

Heaven 17 is a British synthpop band formed in the early 1980s by Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh, former members of The Human League, together with singer Glenn Gregory. The band broke through with their album Penthouse and Pavement (1981), in which they combined electronic music with funk and soul influences. Their biggest hit, Temptation (1983), became a classic within the genre.

Heaven 17 distinguished themselves through their experimental production style and socially critical lyrics, often inspired by political and social themes. Although the band’s heyday was in the 1980s, they remain active with performances and reissues of their work. Their music remains an influential pillar within electronic pop music and appeals to both nostalgic fans and new generations.
